Norra Dalen means “North Valley” in Swedish, honoring our heritage and home in the Gunnison Valley. Our wood-fired mobile sauna delivers authentic Nordic relaxation anywhere, offering simple, restorative rituals inspired by Scandinavian tradition.
Our Story
Norra Dalen was founded by Jarrod Deines, a longtime Crested Butte resident, outdoor enthusiast, and believer in the restorative power of Nordic wellness traditions. Inspired by his Scandinavian roots and a deep appreciation for the rituals of wood-fired sauna, Jarrod dreamed of bringing an authentic sauna experience to Colorado’s mountains, and providing a way for people to unwind, connect, and restore after adventure-filled days.
Combining a love for the dramatic Colorado landscape with Nordic sauna culture, Norra Dalen was created to offer a mobile wellness experience for the local community and visitors alike. Our handcrafted wood-fired sauna is designed specifically for the unique climate and spirit of Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley, providing a space to slow down and embrace the transformative hot-cold cycle rooted in centuries-old tradition.

The Sauna & Stove
Our sauna trailer is handbuilt by Voyageur Saunas in Shakopee, Minnesota. Originally designed by owner Eric Bongard for ice fishing shelters, these trailers were adapted into authentic sauna spaces by lining the interiors with tongue-and-groove cedar and installing a sauna stove. The trailer features a durable aluminum frame, walls, and exterior sheathing, with fully insulated walls and ceiling to retain heat effectively. Clear cedar 2x4s are used for the benches, adding both comfort and a timeless aesthetic. The design also includes adjustable wheels that raise the trailer off the ground when in transit and lower it to sit flat for stability and ease of access during use.
The sauna stove is a Kuuma stove manufactured by Lamppa Manufacturing, a fourth-generation stovemaker based in Tower, Minnesota. As far as they know, the Kuuma stove is the only UL-listed sauna stove made in the United States, a point that speaks to its safety and quality. Each stove is crafted with exceptional care and expertise, and when you call Lamppa Manufacturing, you can speak directly with the owner, Daryl Lamppa, who provides a personal touch rare in today’s manufacturing world. Known for delivering consistent and gentle heat, the Kuuma stove creates the ideal environment for an authentic Nordic sauna experience. Together, this carefully crafted trailer and stove blend traditional Scandinavian design with high-quality American craftsmanship, offering a unique and genuine sauna experience in Colorado’s mountain setting.
