Norra Dalen Nordic Sauna

Safety

It gets hot!

Ideally, there are no rules needed in the sauna, except maybe Don’t Touch the Stove and Shut the Door. However, this is America, not Finland, so please follow these rules.

General Use

  • Each participant must sign the provided liability waiver.
  • Pregnant women and persons suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, circulatory or respiratory problems, seizures or epilepsy, or any other illness, should not enter the sauna without prior medical consultation.
  • Do not wear watches or any jewelry inside the sauna.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use narcotics, legal or otherwise, prior to or during the sauna session.
  • Do not bring food or drink into the sauna, not even water. If you need some water, leave the
    sauna.
  • Wear swimsuits and sit on a towel while in the sauna.
  • Children are welcome in the sauna, but as they are smaller and don’t regulate heat as well, their sauna rounds should be much shorter in duration and they should sit on the lower benches, away from the stove. Children must be accompanied by an adult while taking a sauna.
  • Sauna is not a competition. If you feel dizzy, light-headed, headaches, or any other discomfort, leave the sauna immediately, hydrate, and cool down. 5-15 minute sauna rounds are plenty to get maximum benefit and enjoyment.

Fire and Stove Safety

  • This is a wood burning stove. It gets HOT! Don’t touch the stove or the rocks as they are heating up or at sauna temperatures. Even the stove door and damper handles will get hot to the touch as the sauna heats up. Use the provided glove to protect your hand when opening the stove door to add wood.
  • Follow the provided stove lighting instructions.
  • There is a Fire Extinguisher in the transition room.
  • When ladling water on the rocks, pour from the back of the stove and work forward to avoid steam burns.
  • Allow the ashes to cool overnight and place the ashes from the ash pit into the provided covered pail.

The Upside Down Method

Cleanliness and COVID Safety

We take good care of the Mobile Sauna to ensure sanitization and cleanliness.  The sauna interior and benches are cleaned and disinfected between rentals.  Also, the high temperatures inside the sauna provide a natural purifying effect.

All Norra Dalen Nordic Sauna employees are vaccinated and will wear a mask upon request.
